Kętrzyn is located in the historic Lower Prussia, in the area of the former Barcja and the eastern part of Masuria. It lies several kilometers to the east of the borders of Warmia. Although the population does not exceed 28 thousand residents, the town is rich in historical monuments, including the basilica, the Teutonic castle, remnants of defensive walls, the eclectic town hall, and the Kętrzyn cellars.
